Northwest of Fort Collins in the Poudre Canyon area, the Flowers Trail (#939) is a 15 mile one-way route climbing from 8,880 feet to 11,320 feet. This former wagon route enters the Comanche Peak Wilderness after the first couple miles and intersects several other trails. A portion of the trail is within the Browns Lake Travel Zone and camping is limited to designated sites and fires are prohibited. Some parts of the trail are above treeline and no water is available.

To reach the horseback riding trailhead from Fort Collins, head west on SR14 to near milepost 96. Turn left heading south on CR63E for 4.2 miles. Veer left and continue south on CR63E for another 1.9 miles. Turn right heading west on FS152 (unsigned) for 0.6 miles to the NFS Jacks Gulch Campground. Continue straight through the campground another 0.25 miles to the signed Jacks Gulch Trailhead. Start from the trailhead and continue down the narrowing, scenic rough road for about 2 more miles to the Flowers trailhead (do not try to drive it).

Overall, Flowers Trail is the 15th most popular horse trail of all 66 horseback rides in Colorado. Several of the better horse trails are nearby Flowers Trail including Poudre River Canyon, Lory State Park, Pawnee Buttes Trail, Crosier Mountain Trail and Horsetooth Mountain Park.
