Northwest of Spencer, the Owen-Putnam State Forest has 14 miles of horseback riding trails, most is along the Blue Horse Trail. These trails are shared by mountain bikers and horseback riders, unless otherwise marked. The trails are signed by blue blazed on carsonite posts. To reach the trailhead from Spencer, head west on SR46. Turn right into forest entrance on Fishcreek Road. Follow to trailhead parking.

Overall, Owenputnam State Forest is the 1st most popular horse trail of all 11 horseback rides in Indiana.
