Shoal Creek Horse Trail

The 2nd most popular equestrian trail in Alabama.

Northeast of Heflin, the 36 mile Shoal Creek Horse Trail System consists of three loops. The blue-blazed Piedmont loop is 18 miles. The white-blazed Short Loop is 4 miles. The yellow-blazed Sweetwater Loop is 14.6 miles.

To reach the trailhead at Warden Station Horse Camp from Heflin, head east on SR78 for 7.3 miles. Turn left onto CR61 for 8.5 miles. Turn right on the first paved road (Forest Road 500) . The entrance to the camp will be on the right. Note: drinkable water at the Horse Camp is unreliable.

Overall, Shoal Creek Horse Trail is the 2nd most popular horse trail of all 10 horseback rides in Alabama.
