Southeast of Fayetteville near Winslow in the Ozark National Forest, the Mill Creek Trail system consists of 27 miles of horseback riding loops through remote, spectacular mountainous terrain, scenic, lush upland hardwood forest, unique rock out-croppings. The horse trail leads the rider through remote areas of the Ozark National Forest and features spectacular mountainous terrain, scenic views, lush upland hardwood forests, unique rock outcroppings and clear mountain streams. The main trail and inside loops are connected to accommodate riders who want to vary the length of their trips.
These trails are shared by hikers, mountain bikers, ATV and horseback riders. Stay on trails. Private property borders the trail in various places. Please respect the private landowners by not trespassing.
To reach the trailhead from Fayetteville, take Arkansas 16 east to Combs, turn south on Forest Service Road (FS Road) 1007 for 4 miles, turn left on FS Road 1509 1/2 mile to the trailhead. From Ozark, take Arkansas 23 north to Cass, turn left (west) on FS Road 1520 for 8 miles to FS Road 1509, then north 4 miles to trailhead.
