Northeast of Chillicothe, the 16,000 acre Tar Hollow State Forest has 33 miles of trails open to horses.

The forest headquarters is located off of State Route 327.

A 48-site primitive horse camp is located at the south end of the forest on Poe Run Road.

To reach the Horse Camp from the intersection of US 50 and SR 327 in Londonderry, go north on SR 327 for 1.4 miles. Turn left on Poes Run Rd. and travel just over 2.5 miles to the Horse Camp on the right side of the road.

Overall, Tar Hollow State Forest is the 21st most popular horse trail of all 32 horseback rides in Ohio.
