Near Washburn in Bayfield County, the Horseshoe Lake area has great 12 mile trail over green rolling hillsides near crystal clear lakes. The trail weaves through towering pine and spruce forest.

To reach the trailhead at the Horseshoe Lake Saddle Campground from SR2 in Washburn, head north on FS236 for 9.5 miles. Turn on CR245 for two miles to the campground on the left.

Directions to Horseshoe Lake Saddle Trail: From Ashland drive west 14 miles on Highway 2 to Ino. Turn right (north) on FR 236 and drive 11 miles to FR 245. Turn right (east) and continue for 0.5 mile to the parking area and trailhead.

Overall, Horseshoe Lake Saddle Trail is the 7th most popular horse trail of all 24 horseback rides in Wisconsin.
