Located in the Santa Monica Mountains west of LA, the 15,000 acre Point Mugu State Park has over 35 miles of horseback riding trails. The Point Mugu State Park is located about 30 miles west of LA. The trail begins at the north end of the Big Sycamore Canyon Campground in Point Mugu State Park. The parks entrance is off the Pacific Coast Highway (SR 1), 32 miles west of Santa Monica and 12 miles east of Oxnard.

Overall, Big Sycamore Canyon Loop is the 1st most popular horse trail of all 81 horseback rides in California.
