North of La Grange in southeastern Wisconsin, the 21,000 acre Southern Unit of Kettle Moraine State Forest has a 51 mile Horse-Snowmobile Trail. The route is blazed with orange diamond markers.

The trail is divided into several distinct systems: Forest Long System, Palmyra Trail System, Eagle Trail System, and the Ottawa Trail System

To reach the trailhead from the intersection of CR E and SR 59 in North Prairie, go north on CR E for 1 mile. Turn left (west) on CR ZZ and travel about 2.2 miles to parking on the left.

Note: a trail pass and vehicle sticker are required for use of the trails. A payment stand is located in each parking area.

Overall, Kettle Moraine State Forest - South is the 2nd most popular horse trail of all 24 horseback rides in Wisconsin.
