Washburn County Forest Horseback Riding

The 9th most popular equestrian trail in Wisconsin.

In Washburn County, a 40 mile stretch of the Wild Rivers State Trail runs from Minong south to Sarona. The horseback route traverses through majestic pines, scenic vistas and flowing streams and rivers. The main trailhead is located in Spooner.

The Wild Rivers State Trail is a 96 mile multi-use route along the abandoned Soo Line railroad grade. The trail meanders through Barron, Douglas and Washburn Counties. It passes through numerous charming and unique northland communities. The route is shared in the summer by hikers, mountain bikers, horseback and ATV riders, and in the winter by cross country skiers and snowmobilers.

Overall, Washburn County Forest is the 9th most popular horse trail of all 24 horseback rides in Wisconsin.
