Centential Trail Horseback Riding

The MOST popular equestrian trail in South Dakota.

In the Black Hills, the 73,000 acre Custer State Park has miles of horseback riding trails through ponderosa pine covered mountains and prairies. Keep an eye out for herds of buffalo and antelop.

Note: Weed-free hay and inspections required. Also, large RVs and trucks with trailers should use SR89 only.

All horseback riding trails are marked with blue diamonds on a brow post.

A 22 mile stretch of the Centential Trail (111 miles) passes through the park. Use either the Iron Creek Trailhead or the French Creek Trailhead.

Overall, Centential Trail is the 1st most popular horse trail of all 17 horseback rides in South Dakota.
