South of Sidney in the southwestern corner of the state, the Waubonsie State Park an eight mile horseback riding trail runs through the Loess Hills. A good trailhead is located at the equestrian campground.

To reach the Equestrian Campground trailhead for horseback riding at Waubonsie State Park from Sidney, go south on US 275 for 4 miles. Go west on SR 2 and travel 1.7 miles. Turn right into the Equestrian Campground.

Overall, Waubonsie State Park is the 4th most popular horse trail of all 6 horseback rides in Iowa.
