Known as one of the local epic rides, this section of the Colorado Trail is a 77 mile, multi-day trek starting from Little Molas Lake near 11,000, running over Bolam Pass & Kennebec Pass, and descending 6,500 feet into Durango. The route starts near Little Molas Lake west of US550 with vistas of the La Platas and Needle Mountains. Check it out in early July for wildflowers. At elevations above 11,000 , start rolling along the 70+ mile horseback riding route towards Durango past red rock, sandstone and scrub pine. A couple lakes along the way make nice campgrounds.
