Southwest of Minneapolis, the Minnesota Valley State Recreation Area has 35 miles of trails open to horseback riding along the Minnesota River.

For best access use the Lawerence trailhead at the MVSRA HQ, located southwest of Jordan off SR57.

There are two distinct districts to this state park. The northern district is Louisville Swamp runs from Shakopee to Thompson Ferry. The southern district is the Lawrence Unit which runs from St. Lawrence to Belle Plaine.

Overall, Minnesota Valley State Trail is the 1st most popular horse trail of all 12 horseback rides in Minnesota.
