East of San Diego and north of Pine Valley, the Pionee Mail Trailhead provides access to 19 miles of horseback riding trails. This trailhead is at the northeast end of the Noble Canyon Trail.

To reach the trailhead from San Diego, head east on US8 for about 43 miles to the Sunrise Scenic Byway exit (just past the Pine Valley Exit). Follow the byway north for about 14 miles to trailhead parking area.

The Pioneer Mail Trailhead has access to the NE end of the Noble Canyon Trail and the Pacific Crest Trail.

Overall, Pioneer Mail Trailhead is the 30th most popular horse trail of all 81 horseback rides in California.
