Southeast of Traverse City, the Muncie Lakes Pathway consists of numerous wooded loops and segments open to horseback riding with the outermost loop of roughly 11.5 miles (25km). Accessible from Ranch Rudolf or plowed parking areas off Brownbridge Road east of Ranch Rudolf. Trails are approximately 14 miles southeast of Traverse City.
To reach the horseback riding trailhead from the intersection of Garfield Ave. and US 31 in Traverse City, take Garfield Ave. south for 3.4 miles to Hammond Rd. Go east on Hammond Rd. for 4 miles to High Lake Rd. Turn right and go 0.5 miles to Supply Rd. Take a left and travel 2.8 miles to Rennie Lake Rd. Turn right and go about 3.5 miles to the trailhead. The trailhead is near Ranch Rudolph.
Overall, Muncie Lakes Pathway is the 6th most popular horse trail of all 12 horseback rides in Michigan. Several of the better horse trails are nearby Muncie Lakes Pathway including Shore-to-Shore Trail and Alligator Hill Horse Trail.
