Near Wendell, the 7,500 acre Wendell State Forest has miles of horseback riding trails through hardwood and pine forests.

To reach the forest, follow SR2 to Exit 12. Turn south on SR63 through Miller Falls for 0.75 miles. Turn left heading east onto Wendell Road and continue across the railroad bridge. Wendell Road turns into Montague Road. Follow the signs.

Overall, Wendell State Forest is the 13th most popular horse trail of all 23 horseback rides in Massachusetts.
