Southeast of Salmon and northeast of Leadore in the Leadore Ranger District, there is a nice 10 mile horseback riding section of the Nez Perce National Historic Trail (#6244) from Bannock Pass to the mouth of Canyon Creek Canyon parallel to SR29.

Overall, Nez Perce National Historic Trail is the 6th most popular horse trail of all 56 horseback rides in Idaho.
