Southwest of Reno, the Mount Rose Wilderness Area has 20 miles of winding horseback riding trails.

To reach the trailhead from Reno, head south on US395 for 10 miles Turn west on SR431 for 7 miles to the Mount Rose Wilderness Area trailhead parking area at the road end.

Overall, Mount Rose Wilderness is the 4th most popular horse trail of all 24 horseback rides in Nevada.
