Northwest of Las Vegas in the Mount Charleston Wilderness Area, there are several great treks around Charleston Peak. The North Loop and the South Loop are each about 17 miles. These are challenging high altitude routes with steep and narrow trails.

To reach the horseback riding trailhead from Las Vegas, head north on US95 for 23 miles. Turn left heading west on SR157 for 17 miles to the trailhead parking area.

Overall, Charleston Peak / Northand South Loop is the 5th most popular horse trail of all 24 horseback rides in Nevada. Several of the better horse trails are nearby Charleston Peak / Northand South Loop including Bristlecone Pine Horse Trail, Toiyabe Crest Trail, Pine Creek Trailhead, Pasco Canyon Trail, Logandale Trail System and Monitor Valley TrailRiver Mountain Trail.
