Greenhorn Gulch / Imperial Gulch Horseback Riding

South of Sun Valley, the Greenhorn Gulch / Mahoney Creek loop is a 10.5 mile horseback riding route climbing 2,000 feet. The horse trail combines the trail up Mahoney Creek and returns via the Greenhorn Creek Trail. An alternate return is via Imperial Gulch.

To reach the horseback riding trailhead from Ketchum, head south on SR75 for 5.5 miles. Turn right heading west on Greenhorn Gulch Road for 3.5 miles to the trailhead parking area.

Overall, Greenhorn Gulch / Imperial Gulch is the 11th most popular horse trail of all 56 horseback rides in Idaho. Several of the better horse trails are nearby Greenhorn Gulch / Imperial Gulch including Adams Gulch Loop, Placer/Castle Creek Trail and Proctor Mountain Loop.
