Birdseye Trail Horseback Riding

East of Evansville and west of English in the Hoosier National Forest, the Birdseye Trail is an 11.8 mile horseback riding route through hardwood forest shared by hikers, mountain bikers and horseback riders. The route consists of a mix of trails and fire roads through hardwood forests passing creeks and a lake.

To reach the trailhead from US64: IN 145 (Exit 72) is 43 miles east of Evansville on I-64. Take IN 145 north for six miles to Birdseye Loop Road. A small parking area is located on this road if you turn right and head east on the dirt road. Turn right into the parking area after 1.5 mile. This parking area is little more then a widened fire road with a gate marking the trailhead.

Another new and much larger parking area may be reached from the Town of Birdseye. Turn right on the road that runs along the south side of the railroad tracks in town. At the T, turn right. Parking is about 0.25 miles, on the right (watch for trail crossing signs).
