In Barron County, a 10 mile stretch of the Wild Rivers State Trail runs north from Rice Lake to the county line. The main horseback riding trailhead is on SR48 in Rice Lake.
The Wild Rivers State Trail is a 96 mile multi-use route along the abandoned Soo Line railroad grade. The trail meanders through Barron, Douglas and Washburn Counties. It passes through numerous charming and unique northland communities. The route is shared in the summer by hikers, mountain bikers, horseback and ATV riders, and in the winter by cross country skiers and snowmobilers.
Overall, Barron County is the 13th most popular horse trail of all 24 horseback rides in Wisconsin.
