Southwest of Natchitoches, the 38 mile Sandstone Multi-Use Trail is open to ATV, dirt bike and horseback riding. The trail winds through the piney woods of the Kisatchie Hills with nice views and rolling terrain.
To reach the trailhead from Natchitoches, head west on SR6W for 7 miles. Turn left heading south on SR117 for 20 miles. Turn left on National Longleaf Scenic Byway and look for trailhead signs. The trailheads are located at Lotus Camp, Coral Camp and Coyote Camp.
Note: this is a two-way traffic trail.
