North of Thurmont in the Catoctin Mountain Park, the Catoctin Mountain Horse Trail is a 6 mile route open to horseback riding.

To reach the trailhead from Thurmont, go north on SR 550 for 4.7 miles to Lantz. Veer left onto Foxville Deerfield Rd. and travel for about 2.5 miles. Look for parking on the left. Horses are only allowed on the Horse Trail.

Overall, Catoctin Mountain Park is the 4th most popular horse trail of all 10 horseback rides in Maryland.
