Northwest of Orlando near Apopka, the 7,800 acre Lower Weikiva River State Preserve has a 8 mile route known as the Lower Wekiva Horse Trail. The trail is actually a series of concentric loops. The trailhead starts at a dedicated horse corral parking area.

To reach the Lower Wekiva Horse Trail corral from US4, use the Exit for SR434. Head west on SR424 for 1 mile. Turn right on Wekiwa Springs Road for 4 miles. The park entrance is on the right.

Overall, Lower Wekiva Horse Trail is the 25th most popular horse trail of all 34 horseback rides in Florida.
