Southeast of Ocala and north of Umatilla in the Ocala National Forest, the Flatwoods Trail is a 40 mile route open to horseback riding. It is marked with red blazes.

Note: both black bears and alligators can be found within the Ocala National Forest.

Overall, Flatwoods Trail is the 15th most popular horse trail of all 34 horseback rides in Florida. Several of the better horse trails are nearby Flatwoods Trail including LAM Trail, Baptist Lake Trail, Black Prong, Apex / Tidewater Horse Trails, Praire Trail and Marjorie Harris Greenway.
