Near Cody in the Shoshone National Forest the Elk Creek Trail is a 11 mile route open to horseback riding.

To reach the trailhead from the intersection of US 14A and SR 120 North in Cody, go north on SR 120 for 17 miles. Turn left onto SR 296 and travel for 21 miles. Turn left onto the road that parallels Elk Creek. Go less than 2 miles to the beginning of the trail.

Overall, Elk Creek Trail is the 18th most popular horse trail of all 33 horseback rides in Wyoming.
