Near Cody in the Shoshone National Forest, the South Fork Wood Trail is a 17 mile route open to horseback riding.

To reach the trailhead from Meeteetse, Travel 6 miles southwest on State Highway 290, then 19 miles southwest on Wood River Rd. (County Road 200.) Trail takes off from a signed junction just east of Wood River campground.

Overall, South Fork Wood Trail is the 10th most popular horse trail of all 33 horseback rides in Wyoming. Several of the better horse trails are nearby South Fork Wood Trail including Pahaska Sunlight Trail, Eagle Creek Trail, Bears Ears Trail, Glacier Trail, Middle Fork Trail and Elk Fork TrailFishhawk Trail.
