South of Sarasota and southeast of Venice, the North and South Loops are each 6 mile horseback riding routes through the 8,500 acre Myakka State Forest.

To reach the horseback riding trailhead from US75, use Exit 191 (aka Exit 34). Head south on River Road for 9.5 miles. Turn left into the forest. The trailhead is down the dirt road one mile.

Overall, North / South Loops is the 9th most popular horse trail of all 34 horseback rides in Florida. Several of the better horse trails are nearby North / South Loops including Myakka River State Park and Deer Prairie Creek Preserve.
