Near Truckee in the Tahoe National Forest, the Commemorative Emigrant Trail is a 15 mile route.

To reach the horseback riding trailhead from Truckee at US80, take the Hwy 89 N exit, go 2.3 miles to Alder Creek Road. Turn left and proceed for 3 mi. on Alder Creek Road. Trail starts on the south side.

Overall, Emigrant Trail is the 40th most popular horse trail of all 81 horseback rides in California.
