Grouse Ridge Trail Horseback Riding

The 35th most popular equestrian trail in California.

Southeast of Nevada City, the Grouse Ridge Trail is an 8 mile route open to horseback riding.

To reach the southern Eagle Lakes trailhead from US80, use the Eagle Lakes Exit. Proceed north past NFS Indian Springs Campground. Continue as far as the vehicle will go. A 4WD is required to reach the Eagle Lakes parking area.

From Eagle Lakes, the trail heads north to Sawmill Lake. Note: then northern end of the trail crosses the spillway dam at Sawmill Lake which may be impassible due to high water in Canyon Creek.

Overall, Grouse Ridge Trail is the 35th most popular horse trail of all 81 horseback rides in California.
