Papoose Trail Horseback Riding

The 61st most popular equestrian trail in California.

Near Weaverville in the Shasta Trinity National Forest, the Papoose Trail is a 14 mile route.

Directions: Turnoff Highway 299 at Helena. Take paved road up E. Fork 14 miles to Hobo Gulch trailhead.

The horseback riding trail is relatively level up the wild North Fork Trinity River and in the lower reaches. There are many campsites for a family first trips and plenty of side trails to choose levels of difficulty. Up Rattlesnake Creek you pass stacks and stacks of mining rock piles. Finally the climb is cross country to Papoose lake, a lake of great beauty.

Overall, Papoose Trail is the 61st most popular horse trail of all 81 horseback rides in California.
