Southwest of Lowell in the Nez Perce National Forest, the Meadow Creek Trail (#726) climbs 15 miles up Meadow Creek from the Selway River to Meadow Creek Station cabin. The trail follows the quiet creek bottom through a lush cedar and giant fir forest past cascading waterfalls. Beyond these first four miles, the trail heads up the hillside towards the station.

To reach the horseback riding trailhead from Lowell on US 12, head southeast on FS 223 for roughly 20 miles past Selway Falls. Cross the Selway River and follow FS290 to the NFS Slims CG. Plan to see more wildlife than anywhere else in the nation, including mountian lion, moose, black bear, elk and an occasional otter on the Selway River.

Overall, Meadow Creek Trail is the 18th most popular horse trail of all 56 horseback rides in Idaho. Several of the better horse trails are nearby Meadow Creek Trail including Magruder Corridor, Selway River Trail and Fish Creek Meadows Trails.
