Big Piney Trail Horseback Riding

Southwest of St Louis and south of Waynesville, the Big Piney Trail is a 17 mile route open to horseback riders. Big Piney Trail covers a variety of Ozark terrain in Paddy Creek Wilderness. The17-mile loop trail can be treked as a 10-mile stretch (north section) or the 7.5-mile south section. The trails are rugged and can be challenging for the inexperienced or unprepared.
From Roby, MO take Hwy 17 north 1 mile; turn right on gravel Forest Road 274, and go about .6 miles to Roby Lake Recreation Area.
From Licking, MO, take Hwy 32 west
4 miles to Hwy N; go 2 miles to Hwy AF, then 7 miles to
Big Piney Trail Camp.
From Roby, MO take Hwy 17 north 2 miles; turn east on Slabtown Road for 5.5 mi. This camp was designed for equestrian use to reduce impacts on other camping areas. Four sites, with picnic tables, fire ring.Hitching posts and toilet are provided.
Overall, Big Piney Trail is the 2nd most popular horse trail of all 19 horseback rides in Missouri.
