North of Chilhowee in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, the Cooper Road Trail is a 10.5 mile route open to horseback riding. Cooper Road Trail is part of a 19 mile loop including Rabbit Creek Trail.

To reach the Abrams Creek Campground trailhead from Chilhowee, head north on Happy Valley Road for 7 miles to the campground.

Overall, Cooper Road Trail is the 14th most popular horse trail of all 21 horseback rides in Tennessee. Several of the better horse trails are nearby Cooper Road Trail including Balsam Mountain Trail, Deep Creek Trail, Wolf Ridge Trail, Welch Ridge Trail, Foothills Parkway and Lakeshore Trail.
