Lakeshore Trail Horseback Riding

Southwest of Asheville and northeast of Fontana Village in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, the Lakeshore Trail is a 25 mile route open to horseback riding.

To reach the trailhead from Fontana Village go 1 mile east to a left (north) on SSR 1245. Go across the Fontana Dam. The trail leaves from the right.

Overall, Lakeshore Trail is the 19th most popular horse trail of all 21 horseback rides in Tennessee. Several of the better horse trails are nearby Lakeshore Trail including Balsam Mountain Trail, Cooper Road Trail, Deep Creek Trail, Wolf Ridge Trail, Foothills Parkway and Welch Ridge Trail.
