Kinkaid Lake Trail Horseback Riding

The 18th most popular equestrian trail in Illinois.

West of Murphysboro near Ava, the Kinkaid Lake Trail is a 15 mile (one-way) horseback riding trail along the western shore of Kinkaid Lake. The trail is pbazled with white diamonds.

To reach the horseback riding trailhead from Murphysboro, head west on SR149 for 8 miles. Turn right on SR3 for 4.5 miles. Turn right on SR151 for 5 miles. Just before Johnson Creek Road, look for the trailhead parking area on the right (can be difficult to find).

Overall, Kinkaid Lake Trail is the 18th most popular horse trail of all 22 horseback rides in Illinois.
