South of Laurel in the DeSoto National Forest, the Longleaf Horse Trail System consists of three loops totaling 26 miles open to horseback riding.

The trails are marked with orange and white arrows blazed on trees along each loop. The Long loop is marked in white. The arrows are placed at strategic points along the trials to make it easy to follow.

A Trailriders Camp is located at the beginning of the system on Forest Service Road 213 B.

The trailhead is located about 17 miles south of Laurel.

To reach the trailhead from Laurel, follow SR15 south for approximately 13.4 miles to Forest Service Road 270. Turn left on 270 and go approximately .6 miles to Forest Service Road 213. Tour begins at Road 213. No User Fees.

Overall, Longleaf Horse Trail System is the 1st most popular horse trail of all 7 horseback rides in Mississippi.
