North of McCall, the Twentymile Lakes Trail is a 12 mile out & back through beautiful alpine meadows into the Twenty Mile Lakes area. The route starts off easy before ascending 1,800 feet.

To reach the trailhead from McCall, head north on Warren Wagon Road for 18 miles. Look for signed parking area. There is a wooden trailhead sign on the road. A short dirt road to the right leads to the new trailhead with a horse unloading ramp, hitching rails and toilet by the large parking area.

The first 3 miles of trail are easy and then it climbs steeply for the next 3 miles into the lake region. The trailhead is at 5,600 feet and the lakes are at 7,800 feet.

Overall, Twenty Mile Lakes Trail is the 28th most popular horse trail of all 56 horseback rides in Idaho. Several of the better horse trails are nearby Twenty Mile Lakes Trail including Loon Lake Trail, East Fork / Lake Fork Trail and Kennally Creek.
