South of Brule, the 41,000 acre Brule River State Forest has plenty of trails for horseback riding. The Brule-St. Croix Snowmobile Trail is open to horseback riding in the summer. It is a 26 mile route.

To reach the trailhead from Brule, head south on SR 27 for about 0.5 miles to parking.

Overall, Brule-St. Croix Trail is the 23rd most popular horse trail of all 24 horseback rides in Wisconsin. Several of the better horse trails are nearby Brule-St. Croix Trail including Afterhours Trail and Beaupre Springs Trail.
