Near Young in the Pleasant Valley Ranger District of the Tonto National Forest, the Cascade Recreation Area provides access to 20 miles of horseback riding trails.

Also known as the Workman Creek Area, the ranger district does not recommend horse trailers on the roads of this area. They have become very rutted and rocky.

Overall, Cascade Recreation Area is the 47th most popular horse trail of all 49 horseback rides in Arizona. Several of the better horse trails are nearby Cascade Recreation Area including AD Bar Trail, Arizona Trail - Highline Horse Trail, East Eagle Trail, Highline Trail, Woods Canyon Overlook and Reynold Trailhead.
