Gunnison River Bluffs/Spanish Trail Horseback Riding

The 57th most popular equestrian trail in Colorado.

South of Grand Junction, the Gunnison River Bluffs Trail is a 6.7 mile route that links with the 3.5 mile Spanish Trail to form a loop. The route is open to horseback riding but is mainly used by mountain bikers. While there are two trailheads, the southern trailhead is designed to accommodate equestrian users.

To reach the southern trailhead from Grand Junction, head south on US50 to 31 Road. Turn right heading south on 31 Road (formerly Old Whitewater Road) for 2.0 miles. Trailhead parking area is on the right. This trailhead is the intersection of both the Gunnison River Bluffs Trail and the Spanish Trail.

Overall, Gunnison River Bluffs/Spanish Trail is the 57th most popular horse trail of all 67 horseback rides in Colorado.
