East of San Bernardino and southeast of Big Bear, the Heart Bar Campground is a popular equestrian campground with 46 corrals. Only campers with horses are permitted in Heart Bar Equestrian Campground.

From the campground, there are several trails to explore to the south.

To reach the Heart Bar Campground from San Bernardino, follow US10 to the Alabama Exit (in Redlands) to Lagonia Avenue (aka SR38). Head northeast on Highway 38 for about 31 miles to FS IN02 and 0.25 miles to Heart Bar.

Overall, Heart Bar Campground is the 65th most popular horse trail of all 81 horseback rides in California. Several of the better horse trails are nearby Heart Bar Campground including Cuyamaca State Park, Chino Hills State Park, Topanga State Park, Hansen Dam, Stetson Ranch Park and Griffith Park.
