Chestnut Mountain Horse Trail

The 21st most popular equestrian trail in Tennessee.

South of Etowah, the Chestnut Mountain Horse Trail is a 5.7 mile route. It winds along the mountainside to Iron Gap and on into the Gee Creek Wilderness. There are amazing vistas of the Hiwassee River Gorge.

To reach the trailhead from Ocoee/Hiwassee Ranger Station, head west on SR64 for 3.5 mies. Turn on SR314 to the end. Turn right heading north on SR411 for 7 miles to Spring Creek Road. Turn right toward Gee Creek Campground for 1 mile to the Lost Corral Sign and turn left. Bear right to the parking at Lost Corral.

Overall, Chestnut Mountain Horse Trail is the 21st most popular horse trail of all 21 horseback rides in Tennessee.
