Sahara Creek / Nicholson Horse Trail System

The 25th most popular equestrian trail in Washington.

Southeast of Tacoma and east of Elbe, the Elbe Hills State Forest has a 50 mile horseback riding trail system known as the Sahara Creek / Nicholson Horse Trail System. This trail system is quite difficult.

To reach the trailhead from Tacoma, head south on SR7 through LaGrande to Elbe. Continue east on SR706 for 6.3 miles to Stoner Road. Turn left to the trailhead parking area.

Overall, Sahara Creek / Nicholson Horse Trail System is the 25th most popular horse trail of all 32 horseback rides in Washington.
