South of Potosi and north of Lesterville, the 9,000 acre Bell Mountain Wilderness Area has 12 miles of trails open to horseback riding. A small stretch of the Ozark Trail also passes through Bell Mountain Wilderness.

To reach the trailhead from Potosi, head south on SR21 to SR32. Head west on SR32 for 7 miles to SR A. Follow SR A to FS2228. Turn on FS2228 for 2 miles to the trailhead.

Overall, Bell Mountain Wilderness is the 18th most popular horse trail of all 18 horseback rides in Missouri. Several of the better horse trails are nearby Bell Mountain Wilderness including Hercules Glade Trail, Big Piney Trail, Cedar Creek Trail, Kaintuck Hollow Trail, Ozark Trail and Between The Rivers Horse Trail.
