South of Potosi and north of Lesterville, the 9,000 acre Bell Mountain Wilderness Area has 12 miles of trails open to horseback riding. A small stretch of the Ozark Trail also passes through Bell Mountain Wilderness.

To reach the trailhead from Potosi, head south on SR21 to SR32. Head west on SR32 for 7 miles to SR A. Follow SR A to FS2228. Turn on FS2228 for 2 miles to the trailhead.

Overall, Bell Mountain Wilderness is the 19th most popular horse trail of all 19 horseback rides in Missouri.
