Near Orienta in northwestern Oklahoma, the Newton Ranch in the Gloss Mountains has a variety of horseback riding opportunties.
To reach the trailhead from Orienta (at the intersection of SR412 and SR60):
Travel 19.7 miles West on HWY 412 (to Clean Harbors sign)
Turn South – go 1.5 miles
Turn West – go 0.75 mile
Turn South – travel 1.4 miles to Ranch's main gate
The gate is locked at all times – once your arrival time is confirmed we will make sure the gate is unlocked for you. Please close the gate after you drive through, but do not lock it.
Go 1.3 miles South to the camping area.
To reach the Sibley Equestrian Trail near Salt Plains Lake from US35:
Travel West on Highway 11, 52 miles.
You will go through the town of Medford, continue west.
Turn South on Highway 38 (you will see a state park sign).
Follow the highway south through the small town of Nescatunga, 4 miles
The Sibley Equestrian Trail entrance is on the South side of the road – before the dam.
