Northeast of Traverse City and southwest of Glen Arbor, the Alligator Hill Trail is a network of looping trails totaling 9 miles open to horseback riding. The Alligator Hill Trail has rolling terrain passes through maple/beech forest and pine plantations. The trails are shared by hikers and horseback riders in the summer, and used by nordic skiers in the winter.

To reach the trailhead from Glen Arbor, head west on SR22. At the junction with SR109 where SR22 turns left heading south, continue straight heading west on SR109. Turn left heading south on Stocking Road. Look for trailhead parking on left side of road.

Overall, Alligator Hill Horse Trail is the 11th most popular horse trail of all 12 horseback rides in Michigan. Several of the better horse trails are nearby Alligator Hill Horse Trail including Shore-to-Shore Trail and Muncie Lakes Pathway.
