Vieques Island Horseback Riding

The MOST popular equestrian trail in Puerto Rico.

East of Puerto Rico, Vieques Island is known for its beaches and horseback riding. The long, skinny island has several US Wildlife reserves and DRNA reserves covering about two-thirds of the island.

A popular area is Reserva Natural Bahia Puerto Mosquito, which is also called Cano Hondo. It is a nice place to camp even with the rampant petty theft. There is a turtle nesting area and three world class beaches.

Note: there are two roads on the island subject to closure: Playa Caracas to Red Beach and Punta Arenas to Green Beach.
