Copley Mountain OHV Area

The 79th most popular off-highway vehicle trail in California.

Northeast of Redding and west of Shasta Dam, the Chappie Shasta ORV Area has 250 miles of OHV trails through riparian and chaparral terrain with pine at higher elevations. The Copley Mountain OHV Area is a staging area within the Chappie-Shasta ORV Area.

To reach the trailhead from Redding, head west on SR299 for 2 miles to Iron Mountain Road. Turn right on Iron Mountain Road and continue for about 6 miles to Matheson Road. Turn right at Matheson Road where you see the "Matheson OHV Access" sign. Copley Mtn. Staging Area will be on the right side of Matheson road. Look for OHV Parking sign. This is a day use facility only and no overnight camping is allowed.

Overall, Copley Mountain OHV Area is the 79th most popular OHV & 4wd jeep trail of all 102 OHV routes in California.
